Sierra Hull (2014-2018)
I toured with mandolin virtuoso and singer-songwriter Sierra Hull for 4 years. We met in 2014 through the making of her Béla Fleck-produced album Weighted Mind, on which I was the featured artist. The album went on to receive a GRAMMY nomination in 2016 for best folk album, and multiple nominations from the IBMA. Over the last few years we have played hundreds of shows in the United States, Canada, and Europe, and have had a lot of fun developing as artists together. Though primarily a duo, over the years we featured special trio guests including Justin Moses (banjo, dobro), Eddie Barbash (saxophone), Sam Reider (piano, keyboards, accordion), Christian Sedelmyer (fiddle), Wes Corbett (banjo), and Mike Seal (electric guitar) . Check out Sierra's website, to see where she’ll be next!
Mr. Sun (2013 - 2017)
I am thrilled to have been a member of Mr. Sun from the fall of 2013 to the spring of 2017, and to have played bass on the band's first full-length album, as well as a live recording (available only as a digital download). Darol Anger, Grant Gordy, and Joe K. Walsh are all extremely inspiring musicians, and really keep the music in the moment, every moment - I learned so much playing with those guys, and had a LOT of fun traveling around the country with them for 4 years. Our first gig with that lineup was at the great Freshgrass Festival in western Massachusetts, and we played there every fall for 4 consecutive years - it felt like our resident festival, and I'm extremely grateful to those folks for allowing us to mark each passing year on their stage. Mr. Sun continues to tour and record with a new lineup - make sure you check them out!
Ethan Jodziewicz & Tatiana Hargreaves (2014-2016)
Tatiana and I met at the Savannah Music Festival's acclaimed Acoustic Music Seminar in 2013, and after crossing paths in a few other musical contexts (Tatiana guesting with Mr. Sun, and later as part of Darol Anger's acoustic holiday tour) formed a duo in the summer of 2014. We both have a profound interest in Appalachian old-time music and other fiddle traditions, and explored the concept of a fiddle duo in which one of the fiddles is a bass! We toured occasionally up through the summer of 2016, supporting our 2015 self-titled EP (which was nominated for a Cubadisco award - the Cuban equivalent of the GRAMMYs - in the world music category). Tatiana is busy on the road these days playing with great artists like Laurie Lewis, Dave Rawlings Machine, and others. You can see what she's up to at her Facebook page.
(2011 - 2013)
The two years I spent in Ithaca, NY were wonderfully colored by a collaboration with singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Tenzin Chopak in his project Rockwood Ferry. The core of the group during that time was a trio with myself on bass (and occasional tenor banjo), and Eric Aceto on violin. Tenzin and I also played extensively as a duo, and occasionally played as a 5-piece ensemble adding Richie Stearns on banjo and Rosie Newton on fiddle and accordion. Tenzin is a dear friend, and his music continues to be some of the most moving and inspirational I have ever heard. I am grateful to have played many many concerts with the group from 2011 to 2013, and was part of Rockwood Ferry's second full-length album. I highly encourage you to check out Tenzin's current musical projects at his website!
